In his impressive career spanning over two decades, Bala has consistently championed the idea that strong team development is the cornerstone of effective management. He began his journey with 2.5 years in systems programming at CDAC and SASKEN in Bangalore before moving to Hyderabad in 1997. There, he joined DeShaw India to develop large-scale internet applications. Bala was the first employee at Juno, a company that emerged from DeShaw and later evolved into United Online Inc (UOL). His exceptional interpersonal skills helped teams forge enduring, productive relationships, enabling UOL to establish six offshore teams across different companies in the US. His insights also revolutionized the interactions between Development and QA teams, significantly boosting their combined productivity.

This team was organized into 21 sub-teams to meet the QA needs of six constituent businesses of the parent organization.
At UOL, Bala was responsible for all technology teams (Development, QA, and Operations) working for the Classmates and MyPoints businesses. Digital Wellness refers to the practice of maintaining a healthy relationship with digital technologies, ensuring their use enhances rather than harms our mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It involves setting boundaries, promoting mindful usage, and raising awareness about the potential negative impacts of excessive screen time and digital addiction. The goal is to create a balanced digital lifestyle that supports overall health and productivity.
Digital technologies, particularly mobile devices, have become integral to our lives, offering many benefits. However, excessive use, especially among young children, is leading to addiction and negative consequences. Recent research highlights the rising mobile usage across all age groups, with kids as young as two becoming addicted. This widespread ignorance about the harmful effects of mobile usage could result in a generation plagued by cognitive and emotional issues. In response, a group of IT professionals practicing Raja Yoga meditation is launching an initiative to spread awareness about the toxic impact of indiscriminate digital technology use on our bodies, minds, and lives, encouraging everyone to join this digital wellness movement.
